Multi-Color Pillar Candle

This is an easy multi-colored pillar candle, candle making craft project.

Simply melt wax and combine it separately with two candle dye colors to create a beautiful and stunning multi-colored pillar candle.

You can easily make a variety of color combinations for different occasions.

For example: a gift for a special person using their favorite colors in the candle to give them as a gift.

Or for the holidays, (in this case Halloween).

You can use a pillar candle mold to make your candle or candle making jars or simply recycle a container.

For this example, I’ll use a Parcel Post cardboard container as a mold.

Candle Making Tools:

• Wax melter or double boiler
• Stainless steel measuring cup
• Pillar candle mold or candle making jars (or recycled container, I’ve reused a Parcel Post cardboard container)
• Pencil or rod
• Scissors

Candle Making Supplies:

• Candle wick
• Square metal wick tab
• Candle wax
• Black candle dye
• Orange candle dye

Candle Making Method:

Cut a piece of wick that is an inch longer than the actaul height of the mold or recycled container as used in this example.

Next melt some wax.

Pre-dip the piece of wick and let the wax harden completely.

Insert the end into the wick tab as this anchors the wick in place after you  center it in the container.

How to make a multi-colored pillar candle step 1:

Add black candle dye to the wax you have already melted.

Pour the black candle wax into the container with the wick already in place.

Use a pencil or rod to prevent the wick from falling over or shifting from the center.

Tip: You can use several pencils or rods to keep the wick in place.

How to make a multi colored pillar candle step 2:

Allow to the wax to cool, not completely harden.

You’ll see a thick skin forming on the wax, it feels soft and mushy to the touch.

How to make a multi colored pillar candle step 3:

Melt additional wax.

Now add the orange candle dye to the wax.

Pour the orange wax on top of the cooled black wax already in the container.

If needed, you can use several pencils or rods to prevent the wick from falling over.

Allow the wax to cool once again.

The wax slowly shrinks down in size so you want to add more orange wax to make the candle level.

How to make a multi colored pillar candle step 4:

Allow the wax to harden completely this time.

Remove your candle from the pillar mold and trim your wick to 1/4″ above the candle.

(In this example, I’ve reused a Parcel Post round cardboard container)…

To make this pillar candle a gift, you could wrap it up in a nice box or wrap a piece of bright cellophane around the pillar candle.

You can add a raffia tie and a matching accessory to fit the occasion.

Dress it up and your pillar candle is ready to give as your personal gift.
