Okay…what’s next?

Let’s start with the basic and find a suitable container:

  • Jars
  • Glasses
  • Coffee cups
  • Sea shells (natural objects)
  • Small salad bowls
  • Soda pop cans…

Tip: Allow your imagination  to use whatever container you want!

Imagine a seashell as a container candle…it creates a wonderful theme for your bathroom decoration ideas.

In fact, a candle in a container uses a lower melt point wax and that helps with scent retention and enhances the scent throw.

Advantages of making a container candle is the wax scent lasts longer and most importantly the candle doesnt drip.

Equipment Tips for Container Candles…

Tip: It helps to choose non-flammable containers, that means no plastic or wood containers.

You can experiment with different containers…

You’ll find out that just about anything does the job; jelly jars, small drinking glasses large vegemite jars are suitable for these types of candle projects.

Bear in mind when making container candles or any type of candle the candle wax temperature during the melting process is very important.

Tip: Make sure you use a candle thermometer (use candy or cooking thermometers) as long as it has the appropriate temperature ranges.

Thermometer temperatures ranges between 100F and 300F.

The temperature is completely dependent on the type of candle’s wax melt point you choose to use.

How to avoid air bubbles in your poured wax?

To minimize the amount of air bubbles you slowly stir the candle wax as it melts and pour it slowly into the mold or container.

Tip: It helps to tip your container slightly as you pour whilst tapping the sides of the container to allow air bubbles to escape.

Do you find your candle is pitting?

Surface ptting or pock marks in candles is a result of using too much mold container or mold release agent.

Tip: If you spray too much mold release agent, before pouring your wax, wipe out excess spary leaving only a thin film.

If you’ve poured the candle wax at too high a temperature, set temperature range of  thermometer to lower for pouring.

You’ll find candle containers are a great first candle project and finding a container is quick and easy even for the beginner.
